COVID-19 – Testing information

If you have Covid-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, you will need to get tested and begin self isolating for 10 days. 

Covid-19 symptoms include:

  • a high temperature
  • a new, continuous cough
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or test.

You can also get a test if you have been told to have a test before you into hospital and live in England, if you’ve been asked to by a local authority or you are taking part in a government pilot project.

Darlaston Community Recreation Centre

Hall Street, Darlaston, Walsall WS10 8NW

This testing site is open seven days, 8am–8pm.

This is not a drive-through site. On arrival you are able to walk in to the testing site.

All appointments for a test must be pre-booked by calling 119 or online via the NHS website. COVID-19 testing sites are managed nationally. Walsall Council does not have control over test availability or the booking website.

Wakes Ground Car and Lorry Park

Walsall Street, Willenhall WV13 2EY

This testing site is open seven days, 10am–4pm.

This is a drive-through site (mobile testing unit). On arrival you should remain in your car and follow the directions of health officers on site.

All appointments for a test must be pre-booked by calling 119 or online via the NHS website. COVID-19 testing sites are managed nationally. Walsall Council does not have control over test availability or the booking website.

Walsall Town Hall

This testing site is open seven days, 8am–8pm.

What does the test involve? 

The test involves taking a swab from the back of your throat and inside your nose using a cotton bud. If you are 12 and over, you may take the test yourself. Parents or guardians must take swabs for children aged 11 and younger.
