Walsall Together

Healthwatch Walsall has been commissioned to undertake patient and service user engagement by Walsall Together. This is to engage with Walsall patients and service users to capture experiences and intelligence around care pathways in order to work with providers and commissioners of services to bring about changes in care pathways. .

About Walsall Together

Walsall Together is an integrated care partnership between the organisations that plan and deliver health, and social care services locally. They include:

  • Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust
  • Black Country and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group (including local GPs)
  • Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
  • Walsall Council
  • Walsall Housing Group
  • One Walsall

Together, we want to help the population of Walsall stay well for longer, by supporting them to make better lifestyle choices to help them to live independent, active and healthy lives. We want to help people access to most suitable services when possible by providing accessible, co-ordinated and responsive care as close to home as possible.

Aims

  • Improve the health and wellbeing outcomes of their population
  • Increase the quality of care provided
  • Provide long term financial sustainability for the system.

Why do things need to change?

The health and social care needs of the population are ever-changing and that’s why the organisations that plan and deliver those services are changing too. We are seeing our population grow and people living longer. The demand on services is increasing due to long-term conditions and more complex health needs and all this at a time when resources are limited.

By ensuring that we engage, involved and work in partnership with our local communities we can ensure that their experiences and ideas are listened to and acted upon in the provision of future care.

We have through engagement produced a number of reports which have been shared with partners and working with Walsall Together to embed changes based on recommendations. You can view these reports Click Here.

We have also developed a Walsall Together Service User Group. We have been bringing together patients, service users and those who have an interest in health and social care in order to find out more about the progress and plans of Walsall Together and to also share ideas around future improvements in health and social care.
